Matthew 25:20 – 23

The Parable of the Talents (2)

20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’

21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’

23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

The first servant gave the only report needed, and that was he had doubled his master's money and had the extra talents to show for it.

Jesus shows us the lesson of this parable in this commendation given to the first servant. This man had been faithful to his master, he was also good in the work he accomplished for his master. Because of his obedience and his using the abilities he was blessed with he is rewarded by entering into the joy provided by the Lord which will be shared together in heaven.

The second servant had the exact report as the first, he also had doubled the lord's money. The two men had invested the lord's money and gained from their endeavors.

It is significant to understand these two men received the same commendation from the master even though one had gained much more financially than the other.

Each servant was faithful to the trust given to him.

It is the basis we will all be judged on when we are at the judgment day. We will all be judged on how faithful we are to the trust each of us are given.

Some of us have more ability than others do. Those with more ability will be required to accomplish more.

But if we are all faithful to the level of our power abilities and opportunities then we will receive the one and only reward which is to enter into heaven and share the joy of the Lord.
