Revelation 18:21 - 24

Finality of Babylon’s Fall

21 Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “Thus with violence the great city Babylon shall be thrown down, and shall not be found anymore. 22 The sound of harpists, musicians, flutists, and trumpeters shall not be heard in you anymore. No craftsman of any craft shall be found in you anymore, and the sound of a millstone shall not be heard in you anymore. 23 The light of a lamp shall not shine in you anymore, and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall not be heard in you anymore. For your merchants were the great men of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived. 24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and of all who were slain on the earth.”

We are still on the topic of the fall of the Roman-Catholic church-state empire. This verse indicates how the empire will suffer destruction.

We know the Roman-Catholic church still exists, the Reformation which triggered the demise of the Roman-Catholic church-state empire happened roughly 500 years ago.

The church portion of the empire still exists, because this prophesy did not prophesy the end of the Roman-Catholic church to happen at the time of the Reformation. (2 Thessalonians 2:8) tells us it will be destroyed when Jesus returns at the time of the day of Judgment.

The mighty angel with the great millstone represents the calamity which happens when the world sees the deceptions which the word of God exposes. The explosion of outrage destroys the union of the church and the state empire. The angel explains there will never be another world-wide church-state empire.

All of the vocations and happenings which the angel says will not happen anymore still are in existence today. What these verses mean, since the union of the Catholic church and the Roman empire is being destroyed, these events and vocations will no longer exist within the Roman-Catholic church-state because it does not exist any longer.

The merchants which were recognized and supported by the Roman-Catholic empire had the great benefit of having for all practical purposes, a monopoly, because if a merchant did not have the blessing of the church-state then he had little opportunity to succeed, and the church used the evil powers of Satan and his angels to practice sorcery which made the world think they were the miracles performed by God.

The last verse sums up the crimes committed by the empire of church and state, if a person believed and followed the words of Christ then they were in danger of being killed by those loyal to the church-state.
