Revelation 5:8 - 14

8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song, saying:

“You are worthy to take the scroll,

And to open its seals;

For You were slain,

And have redeemed us to God by Your blood

Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,

10 And have made us kings and priests to our God;

And we shall reign on the earth.”

11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice:

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain

To receive power and riches and wisdom,

And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

“Blessing and honor and glory and power

Be to Him who sits on the throne,

And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

14 Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.

In the previous lesson we meet and understand the lamb who bore the wounds of its death but lived is the Christ, from the tribe of Judah and a descendant of the king David. This lamb is the Son of God and the only one qualified to remove the seals from the book of information about the future.

When God allowed His Son to open the scroll it caused rejoicing of all present, this is shown by the actions of the four living creatures and the 24 elders.

They all fell down before the Lamb in the usual manner of showing homage and praise of one who is a majestic Priest and King.

Each of them had harps which represented instruments (voices) which are used for praise of Christ, and they had incense which represented the prayers of the believers of Christ (saints).

The 4 living creatures and the 24 elders sang their praise to Christ because He qualified to be the One who could reveal the future by opening the seven seals on the scroll of future information. He qualified because He had given His life and bought our freedom with His blood.

His redemption went out to the entire world, those of every nation who would accept His teachings and were obedient to His word would be redeemed by His blood.

By redeeming us He took us from sinners condemned to eternal death to becoming priests and kings serving in His kingdom. We are priests and kings serving under the authority of Christ. Christ is the Chief Priest. (Hebrews 7:26 – 28) He is also the King of kings. (1 Timothy 6:15)

There were more than the four living creatures and the 24 elders who were singing praise to Christ for qualifying to be the redeemer of the world. There were thousands of beings joining in singing this new song.

They all were happy that Christ fulfilled the requirements to become the redeemer of the world. Christ is entitled to receive every blessing that God can bestow upon Him.

Every creature whether intelligent or of the animal kingdom is able to sing Praise to Christ. The animals of the earth and sea are able to by their existence and service to mankind under the supervision of Christ. (Psalm 148:1 – 10)

The 4 living creatures and the 24 elders had already expressed their praise for God the Father and the Son, so now they express their approval of the song the others have sung.
