Matthew 22:11 – 14

Parable of Wedding Feast 3

11 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment.

12 So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless.

13 Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.”

The first two parts of the parable were regarding the courtship and engagement time of the proceedings. This portion of the parable is relating to the wedding ceremony itself. For us it is end of the world, the Day of Judgment. This is when Jesus will claim his bride.

(Revelation 19:7 [Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”])

The king (God the Father) comes in to see the guests of the wedding, all are expected to be dressed alike for the ceremony. The king sees a guest who was not dressed appropriately for the ceremony.

The guest who was asked why he did not have on the proper clothing was speechless because he had no valid reason for not being properly dressed. It was the custom for the host to provide garments for the occasion so all would be dressed as was the custom. So the man could not claim to not afford the wedding garment, or to say he did not have the opportunity to get the garment because he had been given the garment to wear.

We know the garment for Christians or the guests at the wedding is (Revelation 19:8[And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.]) “the righteousness of saints.”

This garment has been provided by the Lord and offered to the espoused bride, we as members of the church are part of the bride. This robe has been provided without monetary cost

(Isaiah 65:1[“I was sought by those who did not ask for Me; I was found by those who did not seek Me. I said, ‘Here I am, here I am,’ To a nation that was not called by My name. ])

(Romans 13:14[But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.])

There is no valid excuse for any believer in God the Father, and the Son to not be clothed in righteousness at the time of the wedding. The man was “speechless.”

Verse 13 is not written in figurative or illustrative language. The penalty for not being qualified to be married to Christ is punishment in the place mentioned in (Matthew 25:46[And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” ]). This place is described as a place of “outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Everyone who ever lived on this earth was invited to the wedding, the invitation was retroactive to Adam and Eve, but only few will qualify to wear the “righteousness of the saints.” The invitation is to many but there are qualifications to receive the proper garments to be allowed entry into the wedding.

There are many who believe they are serving Christ and will be crying at the day of Judgment because they were deceived by false teachers.

(Matthew 7:21[“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

Jesus says He is the “Way.”

(John 14:6 [Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.]) There are not many different organizations which lead to heaven, there are no other beings to be worshiped, there is only one way by worshiping, believing, and doing what his words said.

If you love Jesus, (John 14:15 [“If you love Me, keep My commandments. ]),(John 14:23[Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.]).

If you don't love Jesus, (John 14:24[He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.])

If you love Jesus and keep His words then you will be clothed in the proper garment on the Day of Judgment, you will not be cast into the lake of fire, but allowed into the great city the "New Jerusalem."
