Matthew 19:13 – 15

13 Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them.

14 But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

15 And He laid His hands on them and departed from there.

The parents of the small children recognized Jesus, his compassion and care He had for small children. They brought their children to Him for the blessing He could give them.

The disciples were still confused about the nature of Jesus work during His public ministry, they saw this as an interruption and distraction to His work.

They rebuked the parents of the children and Christ chastised them for rebuking them, He reminded them the church would be made up of people who had the attitude of humility and would repent of any wrong doing.

Jesus laid His hands on to the children, not necessarily to bestow a blessing on them because we know He did not need to touch to pass on blessings, but he touched them out of endearment, to show He cared for them.
