Matthew 18:6 - 9

6 “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

7 Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

8 “If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire.

9 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.

The believers or members of the church are to be like small children, to cause one of them to stumble or go wrong in following the will of God, causing one to partake of activities which are unrighteous or immoral, or to place the temptation before them so they do sin means the fate of being the tempter to a humble disciple is worse than being executed by physically drowning in the ocean.

The sad thing about our world is with all of the conditions, activities, and other circumstances we will always have temptations which can cause us to stumble and fall during our journey along the narrow path to salvation. However it does not justify any person who is responsible for any placing a stumbling block in the way of someone following the narrow path.

We are all responsible for our own conduct and we need to overcome whatever stumbling block which may be in our path. It is not suggested we remove our limbs to overcome sin, the sin is based in our mind not the hand or the feet, but it would be a small loss compared to spending eternity in the lake of fire.
