Matthew 10:32 – 33

32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.

33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

The fear of persecution may cause some to deny Jesus. So this subject is well placed in the conversation He is having with the men who will soon go into the world teaching and healing.

This verse means more than just admitting to people that one believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

The Greek word that the word “confess” is from means, according to “Robinson's” reference book: “to speak or say together, in common, I.E., the same things; hence to hold the same language, to assent, to accord, to agree with.”

Then to confess Jesus means being in agreement with Him and endorsing his teaching If we are not agreeing with Jesus teaching and obeying His word then we are not confessing our agreement with Him.

If we rebel against His commands then we are denying Jesus and He will deny us on the judgment day.
