14 Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever.
15 So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them.
These verses expose some false teachings by some religious organizations. The main thing to see is that Peter who was one of the twelve, one of the apostles of Christ, this healing happened in his house. A person did not have to be destitute to be a servant of Jesus. Peter was a businessman, he was a professional fisher on the Sea of Galilee. He and his brother owned fishing boats, at least one. He also owned a home which housed his family. Peter had a family. verse proves Peter was married, he had a wife and a mother-in-law. One large organization requires their servants to be single, does not allow them to marry. They claim Peter was the leader of their organization, but he was clearly a married man.
Peter's mother-in-law was sick with a fever, the sickness was strong enough it took her off her feet to a reclining position.
Jesus does not always have to speak for miracles to occur, this time He just touched her hand and she was well immediately, and strong enough to get up and help serve the guests in her home.
