Matthew 25:29 – 30

The Parable of the Talents (Conclusion)

29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.

30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

This is the conclusion of the parable of the talents.

The master reasoned a servant who was not motivated to gain a profit for the master had no reason to be entrusted with his money, so it was to be taken away from the wicked and lazy servant and given to a servant who had proven he would use the money and make a profit.

The spiritual application for this parable shows a servant of Christ who does not make good use of the opportunities while in this life will not have any more privilege.

Verse 30 does not apply to an earthly story, it plainly represents the spiritual moral of this story. If we refuse to serve Jesus as we need to, we refuse to use the opportunities of service to do good, then we can expect to be cast into hell, where it will mean eternal punishment causing sadness, pain, and anguish.
