Revelation 22:6 - 11

The Time Is Near

6 Then he said to me, “These words are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place.

7 “Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”

8 Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.

9 Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.” 10 And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. 11 He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.”

God's words are always true and can be trusted. He sent His word for centuries to man via the prophets of the Old testament, and much of that was prophecies which had already been proven to be true by the time John was writing the prophecies of the book of Revelation.

These revelations which were being given to John were true just like the earlier ones given to the prophets, but these were going to come to pass in the near future. The end is close at hand.

I would not be surprised if it came within my grandchildren's lifetime, my children's lifetime, or even in the short time I have left on the earth. I wouldn't even be surprised if it came today or tomorrow.

It is coming quickly, if we heed these warnings then we will be happy because we have lived our lives so that we will be ready for the judgment day.

The things seen by and told to John affected him so much he felt the need to worship the angel. The word used in this verse for worship, is not the word which means worship of God. It means to simply recognize someone as being higher or superior in rank to you. Angels are not superior to man in merit, or authority in God's sphere of service, an angel is only another of God's servants.

The time is at hand so there is no need to seal up and keep from revealing anything in this book, to seal means to make it secret.

At this point in the book, the vision, it is the judgment day, no one can change what was done while alive on this earth. One cannot commit more sin or worse sins, and no one can reform to be good, the time to be sentenced based on the actions we have committed are at hand.
