Revelation 11:7 – 10

7 When they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them. 8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. 9 Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, and not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves. 10 And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.

We must continue to remember we are reading the part of the book of Revelation which is written in figurative and symbolic language.

The witnesses we met in verse 3, The Old Testament, and the New Testament, never finish telling their message, they never finish testifying. What this figurative language means is the Bible is finished. When John was writing this book, the New Testament was not a complete volume. The book of Revelation was not in it.

When it is completed, then the beast, The ones who controlled the Roman Catholic Empire, the beast also known as Satan, attacked the Bible to keep it from the people. If the world has the word of God, then the world knows the practices and doctrine of the Catholic church do not coincide with the word and the will of God.

The Roman Catholic empire needed to attack or suppress the Bible, they needed to keep it out of the hands of the people, they made it so only the priests had access to the bible, they made sure it was printed in a language not known by many people, Latin, they suppressed the education, only the rich and powerful could have education for their children. This was easy if your organization not only controlled the church but also the governments of the countries which made up the empire.

The Bible was never killed, but as far as the people were concerned it was dead because they had no access to it.

The dead bodies of the Old and New Testament were never lain in the streets of any city. But since Rome suppressed their usage it was the reason it is symbolized in this manner, Sodom and Egypt were known for their wickedness and their enmity against the Lord and the same kind of elements were at play against our Savior and resulted in His crucifixion as are against the attack on the Bible.

The Bible continued to be prohibited by the Roman Catholics for the 1260 year period known as the Dark Ages, the verse uses the symbolic one day is equal to one year, otherwise 3 ½ years that it is suppressed.

The action of not allowing the bodies to be buried is an act of disrespect, if your enemy was killed, you did not respect him by giving him a good burial, you showed your disrespect by forcing his body to decay and rot above ground. The church headquartered at Rome had that kind of disrespect for God's word, they claim to be an organization of God's, but are really controlled by Satan.

The word of God is about service, and care and concern for those of the world, not about being prominent and glorifying the men who control the church. These two witnesses tormented those in control of the Roman Catholic empire. They were happy when they suppressed the word of God and had everything their way. They celebrated the death of the Bible.
