7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 8 Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.
9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; 11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.
These deceivers who were members of the church have left the church to take their false doctrine into the world. They are the ones who teach Jesus of Nazareth is not the Son of God and He is not the Messiah, the Christ. This is the doctrine of the antichrist.
John warns us to be careful we do not fall for the deceivers and lose our life eternal with Jesus in Heaven
If we allow ourselves to be deceived and leave the true doctrine as the antichrists did then we are not living in Christ and His teaching. We have lost God, because God is the source of the true doctrine which was taught by Christ and His apostles. (John 14:10 – 11) As long as we are faithful to the true doctrine of Christ then we are abiding in the Father and the Son. (John 14:19 – 23)
If anyone tries to teach us a false doctrine we are not to encourage his teachings by associating with him as he teaches. His doctrine is false, no matter who he is, if what is taught does not align with the teachings of Christ and His apostles it is false and Paul says he is to be accursed. (Galatians 1:8)
If we accept the false teacher and associate with him it shows we accept his false teachings. We are accomplices and guilty by association.
