17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love Him because He first loved us.
If we have made our love for each other complete and full as God's love then in the day of judgment we will not be shy, bashful, or hopeful of receiving eternal life because God's love is complete and we are complete as He is because we have patterned our actions after the actions of Christ and the Father.
When our love is complete our life is without fear of condemnation because we have fulfilled the instructions God has given us. The word “fear” comes from the Greek word PHOBOS meaning 1. fear, dread, or terror. 2. reverence, or respect. When we are sure of obtaining eternal life we have no fear, dread, or terror of being cast into the lake of fire. The dread or terror of being condemned to the lake of fire is full of torment on this earth and we have to fear death itself because after death we are convicted of our actions here on earth.
The reason we make our love complete is because before we could ever love God, He showed His love for us.
