46 And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord.
47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
48 For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.
49 For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.
50 And His mercy is on those who fear Him From generation to generation.
Mary sang a song which praised God, she as a human could not to anything to make the greatness of God be any higher or lower than it was, but in her heart she was praising God for the greatness of His being.
Mary mentioned her soul in the first verse of her song and in the second she mentions her spirit. She is not making any technical distinction between them, she is just expressing how her entire spiritual being was filled with praise for the greatness of her God.
Mary is now explaining why she is praising God. She was one of the lower castes of life, she was not rich, she was not a celebrity, but now the Savior of the world would be carried and be born by her, but she was not stating she should be worshiped like the son she would raise.
The one who has blessed her greatly is the great, holy One
His mercy is available to all who fear him for all eternity.
